Sime~Gen Roleplaying on IRC
Bender Cove Township Scenario
Bender Cove was the first scenario of the Sime~Gen roleplaying on IRC. It ran for about a year and a half, 7 days a week, with sessions lasting as long as five hours, and the number of active players ranged from 3 to 9.
This scenario is set in Bender Cove, a small border city in Sime Territory, on the south shore of the Greater Lake. Most of the action takes place in a Sime Center in the worst part of town. It is infamous among the scenarios for having the zaniest characters and places and the most ridiculous plot lines. Disasters play a large part in the storylines, from fire to flood to plague to bad Donors to icy front steps.
The Bender Cove scenario was the parent of the Two Roads Diverged, Householding Naros, Farpoint Sime Center, and Householding Chanel spin-offs and existed concurrently with them for some time.
This Bender Cove website was originally created by Kaas Baichtal who still runs it now. However there were a few months where it was located on Geocities and run by other people before it returned to Kaas' hands. At the request of Cheryl Wolverton this special mention is retained from the Geocities version of the site.
The Bender Cove episodes are a bit more difficult to read than some of the other scenarios, because multiple scenes were played out simultaneously in the same chat room. If you find it difficult to parse, it is suggested that you read through paying attention to only one set of characters, then re-read it paying attention to another set of characters, etc. until you have read all the scenes. (Later scenarios were played out only one scene at a time, utilizing separate chat rooms if two scenes had to be played simultaneously.) Bender Cove is also the most incomplete of the scenarios in terms of the percentage of episodes posted. Some of those posted are more primitively edited than more recent scenarios, and many do not have descriptions. The Bender Cove scenario pages are still being worked on however, with episodes added and edited as time permits.
