Sime~GenTM Roleplaying on IRC

Punctuation Conventions

In general, try to use the correct English and Simelan spelling and punctuation. The following additional conventions have been established in order to facilitate log preparation, as well as make it easier for other players to understand your intent.

For dialogue, simply type what you want your character to say at the IRC prompt. It is not necessary to use quotes, although feel free to do so if you wish.

For actions, use the /me command: For example, /me walks into the lobby.

For actions embedded in dialogue, use square brackets. For example, What are you talking about?! [clutching head in hands]

For dialogue embedded in actions, use quotes. For example, /me jumps up on the desk. "Don't anybody move!"

For external events use square brackets. For example, [A horrendous shriek emits from the bathroom]

For nageric actions, or how your characters zlins to others at the time, use tildes. For examples, ~~just past turnover~~ and, ~~guilt~~.

For corrections important enough to be placed directly in play, use equals signs. For example if you accidentally said Veraik when you meant Alea, you can say === Veraik --> Alea ===. Or if you want to completely take back a line, you can say something like === oops! scratch that last. ===

For kibitzing or non-gaming related chat, use private messages to the people you want to talk to (/msg username message).
