![]() Episode Four - TransferA report from the First Companion Zoe and I can't always organize what day of the week our transfers fall on, or exactly what time, although Zoe can be fairly flexible. For example, today is Wednesday and our transfer is due this evening. We could have either have had it early by anything up to a few hours (or actually a sime can have transfer early anything up to a few WEEKS, but it's not good for their health, and definitely isn't good for the gen serving their need), to up to a few hours after the due time. (Once again, Zoe could probably go for a day or two over – but she would be in hard need during that time, and I wouldn't trust her as far as I could throw her.) We have chosen, however, to have it on time. As usual. ~ sigh ~ As I was saying, it is Wednesday. Why this is important will become more obvious when I tell you that on Wednesdays not only do we spend the day separately, but Zoe also travels all across town on that day. On Wednesday morning Zoe works. I don't have to worry about her while she is at work, there is a very competent Doner who works with her who keeps an eye on her for me. After work, however, Zoe travels half way across Brisbane to visit her Doctor. Once again, while she is with her Doctor (A very professional channel who has been working with Zoe since she disjuncted) I don't have to worry about her – but there is the traveling back and forth that I am always a little concerned about. Zoe tells me that I have nothing to worry about, she hasn't even stalked anyone in at least five years…. Never-the-less, I was pleased to see her arrive home safely, and still in need, today. As soon as Zoe walked in the door I went to work. I handed her a cold drink I had ready, and while I encouraged her to tell me about her day I worked at reducing her selyn use. When she is hot and anxious it is always higher. When a sime is using more selyn then is actually necessary for their activity level they feel more in need then they really are. With practice you can take a Channel in need and make them feel as if they aren't in need. You don't want to go to far with this of course, because at the same time we want to raise their intil. Just get them nice and relaxed so that the anxiety is gone. The next step in preparing for transfer is raising intil. In most cases this is as easy as it sounds! However, after feeling as if she had to keep control over herself during most of the day, convincing Zoe, on a subconscious level, that it is now ok to "let go" and let herself prepare for transfer was a little harder, and took a little longer, then usual. I started with a light massage of her hands arms and handling tentacles while we talked, then, when she was relaxed enough, moved to a deeper massage including her lateral sheaths. During this Zoe would slip hyper. I can always tell when this happens by feel, but even if I couldn't the fact that her eyes cross and she gets a goofy look on her face would give it away! Softly as I can I keep bringing her back to duo during this phase. Anytime after intil has been raised to transfer level, transfer can take place. With renSimes (in case any of you ever have to give transfer to a renSime in an emergency) this is as much as you would want. If you are working on a casual basis with a Channel, once again, you wouldn't want to spend too much time with this – once their intil was raised to transfer level, transfer should then take place. However, if you are working with a Channel under closer situations, or if the Channels transfer history requires it, trautholo can be established. Situations where this might be desirable would include occasions where the Channel has had a history of aborts, or if the last few transfers have been unsatisfactory. Do not prolong the time in trautholo, however, or a dependency can develop. As Zoe and I are matchmates with a transfer dependency already, however, we don't' have to worry about this and can enjoy a prolonged period in truatholo. Truatholo should be carefully balanced. During this time the sime is the closest to being in their "predator" state as they ever are. Moving suddenly, or away from them while in truatholo can lead to an attack. In a Channel this can be particularly dangerous as it can cause their conditioning to kick in causing an abort, or even a suicide abort. As Zoe has no conditioning worth speaking of this isn't a worry. As I write this we are resting from the "raising intil" stage. Zoe is on the lounge, only a few feet away from me (she wouldn't let me out of zlin during this time of course, nor would I want to go too far from her!). Sometime in the next half hour we will have transfer. Fortunately, since we have been in this dependency, Zoe's post reaction hasn't been strong. Under my care her range of emotions doesn't vary too much depending on her cycle. This, we feel, is a more healthy and normal way to live, although the Tecton apparently feels differently. Occasionally, however, after transfer, Zoe's emotions will be a little raw, and it is certainly true that her appetite improves! Oddly enough after transfer I always get an urge to cook. That's all for now. Zoe is calling for me. Stay Safe, Stay Strong Eliza First Companion in Halwyn
Trautholo (trow-tho'-lo)
A pretransfer state in which such a precise attunement as mentioned above (Selyur Nager) has been achieved. If, at this point, the Donor attempts to withdraw, the Sime's kill reflex is triggered. If trautholo is protracted, a transfer dependency may result.
Matchmates
A Sime/Gen pair where the Gen's basal selyn-production rate matches the Sime's basal selyn-consumption rate. Matchmates may or may not be of opposite sex, and may or may not fall into a locked transfer dependency.
Transfer dependency
The state of being able to take transfer with only a particular Donor. Transfer dependency always accompanies lortuen/torluen/orhuen.
